Position Context:

The Student Recruitment Associate, School of Continuing Studies provides students with information to guide them in choosing programs and courses in line with their academic and career goals. Inform students of the availability of student services including career planning, campus life and engagement, international student services, services for students with disabilities, religious life, etc., in order to ease student integration into student life. Participate or organize graduation activities.

Oversee all B2C recruitment and follow-up activities for programs in their portfolio. In collaboration with the Business Development and Marketing unit develop and implement all advertising campaigns related to programs in their portfolio, including online and on social media and make recommendations on how to advertise the programs and increase enrolment. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute recruitment activities for all programs, courses and activities, for credit bearing or non-credit. Ensure the recruitment of students in relation with their portfolio grows according to set goals.
  • Develop student recruitment plans, identifying target markets and outreach campaigns in collaboration with the hiring unit and the Business Development and Marketing unit.
  • Participate in and support the creation of promotional material, hard copy or electronic, including online brochures, marketing micro-sites, electronic student handbooks in collaboration with the Business Development and Marketing unit.
  • Participate in and support the advertising campaigns for the programs of their portfolio, including those on the Internet and Social Media.
  • Participate in and support the hiring of recruiting agencies, their training with regard to the programs and courses in the portfolio, and assess and draft quarterly reports on agents’ performance.
  • Perform and organize activities to support the daily operations of the unit with regard to student recruitment.
  • Implement administrative procedures or systems in support of the department or unit’s operations and ensure activities meet or exceed established quality requirements.
  • Inform students on admission eligibility of applicants, by considering multiple sources of information, based on predetermined guidelines and procedures.
  • Review and make recommendations on straightforward admission files. Work closely with Client Services to complete the admission and registration process. Follow up on missing documentation.
  • Analyze the satisfaction reports from pre-admission to graduation students and make recommendations to their effect.
  • Communicate with prospective students, applicants, parents, guidance counsellors and other stakeholders regarding courses and programs, career opportunities, admission and enrollment procedures and other inquiries of any sort pertaining to programs and courses of the portfolio.
  • Plan, organize and participate in student recruitment activities. Attend job fairs, high school and CEGEP, and university visits, and McGill’s Open House.
  • Participate in the planning of the recruitment campaign related to their portfolio, including the setting up of student recruitment objectives and retention rate of the recruited students.
  • Gather and analyze data and compare target markets, with the aim of identifying ways to improve attraction on programs and activities in their portfolio and to increase enrolment.
  • Administer, analyze, and propose alternative solutions for a diverse student population with respect to their academic needs.
  • Organize and oversee activities related to information sessions, webinars, focus groups, and special graduation ceremonies. Produce surveys and reports related to market trends, benchmarking, potential and current student perception and satisfaction.


Undergraduate Degree 

Two (2) years of related experience; International experience

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

Excellent negotiation and sales skills (ability to influence people). Strong relationship building skills and ability to develop and nurture partnerships. Ability to work autonomously and efficiently. Ability to work well in a teamwork environment. Cultural communication expertise. Must have a valid driver’s licence. Must be available for frequent travel in Canada, the US and oversees, and for work on weekends. Must have a valid passport. Must be bilingual, French and English, oral and written; A third language would be a plus.
