The McGill Law community is invited to participate in the 9th annual Christie Community Bike Ride on Sunday, September 10, 2017 in support of the Mobile Legal Clinic. The Christie Community Bike Ride was founded in 2009 to commemorate the legacy of McGill alumnus and Vancouver lawyer Dugald Christie. Christie was both a strong advocate for access to justice and an avid cyclist. In 2006, Christie began cycling across the country to convince our decision-makers of the necessity for justice system reform. Every year, McGill Law students bike 50 km around Montreal in his honour to raise funds for a local access to justice organization.

The organizers hope that you will join them on this fun bike ride in support of access to justice! Visit their Eventbrite page to register. Registration is $20 if you have a bike, or $35 if you do not have a bike and will need a rental. Coffee, treats, and a picnic lunch are included in the registration fee. Mostly, however, it includes a lot of fun!

For more information about the ride, read the ride’s blog at christieride.wordpress.com.

This year the ride is in support of the Mobile Legal Clinic (MLC). The MLC promotes access to justice through providing legal services to the homeless and marginalized members of our society. Through the MLC, law student volunteers travel on a monthly basis to 10 different shelters or day centres in Montreal and provide legal resources to homeless and marginalized individuals. Their work is overseen by a dozen law professors and lawyers who are members of the Quebec Bar.
