11 am: Journal Club: Use of Machine Learning to Differentiate Children With Kawasaki Disease From Other Febrile Children in a Pediatric Emergency Department, by: Dr.Khalid Binghannam

learning objectives:

  1. can we use machine learning to detect potentially life-threatening but rare diagnoses?
  2. in Kawasaki disease, which is primarily a clinical diagnosis can machine learning outperform clinical diagnosis?

BIO: Dr. Saleh Alsaeed, health informatics emergency medicine fellow, department of emergency medicine, McGill University. He is from pediatric background, finished his pediatric medicine board back home in Saudi Arabia, and pediatric emergency medicine fellowship in McMaster prior to be enrolled in his current fellowship. Dr. Saleh has an interest in workflow and human behavior

 

BIO: Dr. Bassam Alomar, health informatics emergency medicine fellow, department of emergency medicine, McGill University. He is from pediatric background, finished his pediatric medicine board and pediatric emergency medicine fellowship back home in Saudi Arabia, worked as a staff for 2 years prior to be enrolled in his current fellowship. Dr. Bassam has an interest in workflow improvement, big data management and machine learning.

 

BIO: Dr.Khalid Binghannam , final year Emergency Medicine Resident doing AOI rotation in Health Informatics.
