Dr. Susan Mitchell, M.D., M.P.H.
Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School

Dr. Mitchell is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and senior scientist at the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew Senior Life in Boston, where she directs the Palliative Care in Aging Research Center and co-directs the Interventional Studies in Aging Center. She is a geriatrician and health services researcher. Her research focuses on improving health care delivery, decision-making and outcomes for older patients with advanced illness, particularly those with dementia. She has been the principal investigator on many large research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and has been the lead author on many key scientifc publications related to this topic. Her body of work has had a transformative impact on the care of persons with late-stage dementia and their families.
