Jeong Kwan (2017)

Tuesday, May 15, 2018 19:00to21:00
Arts Building Moyse Hall, 853 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 0G5, CA

Join McGill Programs in Whole Person Care for a free screening and discussion of the documentary about Jeong Kwan. Kwan is a Zen Buddhist nun and chef of Korean cuisine. She lives in the Chunjinam Hermitage at the Baegyangsa temple in South Korea, where she cooks for fellow nuns and monks, as well as occasional visitors. Kwan does not own a restaurant and has no formal culinary training. Building on Buddhist philosophy and drawing or inspiration on the Temple's own gardens, Jeong Kwan creates astonishing vegan flavors, and reminds us that many of the best ideas for plant-forward cooking have been nurtured and refined over centuries by food cultures and religious traditions.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Bernard Lapointe, MD, Director, Palliative Care, McGill University, Chief, Palliative Care Services, Jewish General Hospital, Stephen Liben, MD, McGill Programs in Whole Person Care, and moderated by Dr. Tom Hutchinson, Director, McGill Programs in Whole Person Care.

NO RESERVATION REQUIRED.
