With the importance of hydroelectricity in Quebec and the potential for other renewable energy sources, regional integration could significantly reduce decarbonization costs. This seminar will present the findings of the study report "A Decarbonized Northeast Electricity Sector: The value of regional integration". There are many benefits to wider regional integration, which will require changes in the planning and management of electrical power.
This is joint event from the Chaire de gestion du secteur de l’énergie in collaboration with l'Institut de l'énergie Trottier (IET) and Trottier Institute on Sustainability in Engineering and Design (TISED).
Avec l’importance de l’hydroélectricité au Québec et le potentiel d’autres énergies renouvelables, une approche régionale intégrée pourrait réduire significativement les coûts de la décarbonisation. Ce séminaire présentera les conclusions et l’approche de modélisation développée dans le rapport «A Decarbonized Northeast Electricity Sector: The Value of Regional Integration». D’importants gains peuvent être obtenus avec une plus grande intégration régionale. Celle-ci demandera cependant différents changements dans la manière traditionnelle de planifier et gérer le secteur de l’électricité.
