McGill Desautels: First Faculty to attain Silver in Sustainable Workplace Program

Published: 6 March 2024

McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management has become the first Faculty to achieve Silver status in the Sustainable Workplace Certification program. Led by McGill's Office of Sustainability, the program encourages eco-friendly practices and a sustainability culture for departments and units across campus.

Exceeding the 75% participation threshold, McGill Desautels reached Silver certification in February, showcasing dedication beyond minimum requirements. Wesley McCoy, Sustainability and Events Supervisor, commends the collective effort of the faculty community, emphasizing that establishing new standards for sustainable practices helped meet this achievement.

Innovative initiatives, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and a challenge by Dean Yolande E. Chan to achieve Gold-level certification, have all contributed to the Faculty’s success. The attainment of Silver underlines McGill Desautels' steadfast commitment to positive change and demonstrates the significance of sustainability as a strategic priority- in teaching, research and operations.
