Onex CEO Gerry Schwartz brought New York City thinking to Bay Street  

Gerry Schwartz founded Onex Corporation in 1984, and after nearly four decades at the helm, he grew the company in to one of Canada’s largest private equity and venture capital firms. Now, Schwartz is stepping down as Onex’s CEO. Schwartz is a big thinker and helped change Bay Street’s attitude to be a little more like New York, said Associate Professor Karl Moore in an interview with BNN Bloomberg. Choosing a successor won’t be easy, but Moore expects whoever takes the reins will seek to keep the company on a similar path, as it looks to navigate the future.
