Research Associate (Neuro Degenerative Disorders under Dr. Alyson Fournier)

Primary duties:
The candidate will work independently on basic research projects in the laboratory of Dr. Alyson Fournier at the MNI. His/Her work will be focused on understanding how inflammation contributes to axon degeneration and regeneration with an emphasis on the understanding of the contribution of miRNA molecules. He/she will use a variety of cell biological and in vivo models to understand the contribution of miRNA molecules to optic nerve regeneration following axotomy and axon degeneration in the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) animal model. He/she will design methodology and perform experiments, will work with collaborative teams on the multidisciplinary aspects of the research projects, and will further analyze the data, write drafts of manuscripts, and contribute to the writing of grants. The candidate will also participate in the supervision of full-time technician(s) and of undergraduate and graduate trainees when required.
