Retrieving materials from BCI institutions not possible due to COVID-19 service disruptions

Published: 7 July 2020

McGill Library is partnering with the Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire (BCI) and a coalition of 17 other Quebec universities to provide the Quebec scholarly community with access to three digital platforms. This includes a unified catalogue or Library Shared Services Platform (SSP) that will provide access to more than 20 million documents across the 18 collections and is supported by OCLC's WorldShare Management Services (WorldCat). The SSP will be a single portal for searching, accessing and requesting documents from Quebec universities.

This summer, the unified catalogue will be implemented in phases. As a result of this province-wide roll out, McGill users will see group holdings when “BCI-Quebec University Libraries” or “Libraries Worldwide” is selected in the Held By Library search results tab.

Although users will be able to see circulation information in real-time, requesting and retrieving materials from BCI institutions outside of McGill will not be possible due to COVID-19 related service disruptions.

We apologize for this inconvenience and will notify the McGill community when SSP circulation services are activated.

For more information on the SSP, please visit the dedicated webpage.
