September 2017: Make course evaluation results available to students by term

Published: 28 September 2017

Numerical results of course evaluations are accessible by McGill students and academic staff (hereafter, the “McGill community”) for courses when the following two conditions are met:

  1. An instructor has not objected to access; and
  2. An adequate response rate has been received, defined as follows:
    Class Size Response Rate (%)
    5 - 11 minimum 5 responses
    12 - 30 at least 40%
    31 - 100 at least 35%
    101 - 200 at least 30%
201 or more at least 25%

Written comments are always treated as confidential and are never disseminated.

As of the Fall 2017 term, instructors can make permission decisions on a term-by-term basis rather than by academic year. A benefit of this change is that it allows students to view Fall term results when registering for courses for the upcoming academic year.

The following table indicates deadlines for instructors to register permission decisions and the dates numerical course evaluation results are available to the McGill community:

  Fall 2017 Winter 2017 Summer 2018
Instructors can register decisions between: November 1, 2017 - February 28, 2018 March 1 - May 31, 2018 June 1 - September 30, 2018
Course evaluation results become available on: March 1, 2018 June 1, 2018 October 1, 2018
