Recruitment of Policy Leaders (RPL)

The program targets and recruits exceptional candidates into mid to senior-level policy positions in the federal public service. The initiative is designed to attract top-level professionals and graduates (master or PhD), from an array of disciplines, who have the drive and potential to shape the future of Canada’s public policy landscape. Each year, over 1,600 applications are received, and only 20 to 40 recruits are selected. Recruits are invited to tackle the nation’s most critical public policy challenges in a dynamic, professional environment. Recruits come from fields as diverse as physics, management consulting and international aid.

Patrick Forest (RPL 2012; SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow 2009-2011, McGill University) will introduce the participants to the program and will answer questions. Patrick was until recently the Senior Policy Advisor to the Chief Negotiator for Climate Change and Assistant Deputy Minister of the International Affairs Branch at Environment Canada and is now the Chief of Staff of the Senior Vice-President, Parks Canada Operations.
