McGill puts the spotlight on the past, present and future of the “hospital”

In 2015-16, Montrealers will witness the opening of two new ‘Superhospitals’.  At a combined cost of billions of dollars, and two decades of planning, the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and Centre Hospitalier d’Université de Montréal (CHUM) will constitute two of the largest health care institutions in Canada.  The centralization of medical service delivery will also result in the repurposing of two of the oldest and most famous medical institutions in Canada – the Royal Victoria Hospital and Hôtel Dieu

On October 1-2, The Institute for Health and Social Policy (IHSP) and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Montreal (CIRM) at McGill University will host Hospital / Hôpital, a colloquium, exploring the hospital from historical, architectural, socio-cultural, and urban planning perspectives.
