An announcement regarding the Vice-Principal (Health Affairs)
and Dean of Medicine

Published: 14 April 2011

We write to confirm that Dr. Richard I. Levin has advised us that he has, for personal reasons, decided not to seek reappointment to the position of Vice-Principal [Health Affairs] and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. We are most grateful that Dr. Levin will continue to serve in those roles until the end of his five-year mandate, on August 31st, 2011.

Dr. Levin has served the Faculty and the University with grace and wisdom. An internationally renowned academic, he has contributed to the enhancement of the Faculty of Medicine, and the University as a whole, and he has contributed much as well to the support of our colleagues and partners in the McGill network of teaching hospitals and research institutes. We know you will join with us in thanking Dr. Levin for his dedicated effort, thoughtful leadership and the many fine contributions he has made in this vital role at McGill, for close to five years.

We look forward to the occasions to recognize Dr. Levin’s special contributions as Vice-Principal and Dean that will occur toward the end of his term.

In accordance with the statutes of the University, the Advisory Committee for the Reappointment of the Vice-Principal [Health Affairs] and Dean Faculty of Medicine will maintain its duly constituted composition, now becoming an Advisory Committee for the Selection of a new Vice-Principal and Dean.
