The objecti ve of the program is to train highly qualified people to become policy lea ders in the government of Canada. The development program gives recruits t he opportunity to experiment first-hand the functioning of government and to learn the role of each central agency (Finance Canada\, Treasury Board Secretariat\, Privy Council Office) and of line departments in the design and implementation of public policy. Applicants must have recently obtaine d or be about to obtain a Master's degree from a recognized university in any discipline\, and have completed a number of economics courses.
