Introducing Professor Doctor Hélène Seiler!

Published: 16 November 2022

McGill Chemistry congratulates Dr. Hélène Seiler on her appointment as an Assistant Professor of Physics in the Free University Berlin!

Dr. Seiler is from Switzerland and studied physics at EPFL and economics at London School of Economics. She then did her PhD under the supervision of Pat Kambhampati here in McGill Chemistry. She did her work on the development of Two-Dimensional Electronic Spectroscopy and its application to dynamics within semiconductor nanocrystals. She then did her PDF at Fritz Haber Institut Berlin under the supervision of Martin Wolf and Ralf Ernsdofer. There she applied the methods of Ultrafast Electron Diffraction to study structural dynamics in semiconductors. In all her work, she has been involved with the global state-of-the-art in spectroscopy and broadly in experiment. She is poised to become a global leader in unraveling the behavior of complex semiconductors which are of great relevance to the global energy problem.
