Biography

Head of Passenger Data and Border Control
International Air Transport Association  (IATA)

Nathalie Herbelles is Head of Passenger Data and Border Control at IATA, Montreal.

In her role, she is responsible for representing IATA’s 230 member airlines on global Aviation Security and Facilitation issues. Nathalie works closely with regulators worldwide and with ICAO, representing IATA at various meetings including the annual ICAO Aviation Security Panel. She has led IATA’s efforts regarding the adoption of one-stop security at airports and spearheaded a campaign to raise States’ awareness of passenger data exchange standards.

Prior to joining IATA in 2007, Nathalie was Manager Legal, Cargo and Security at the Association of European Airlines (AEA) in Brussels. In this role, she coordinated industry policies on issues such as carriage of liquids & gels and cargo security, liaising with decision-makers in the European Commission and European Parliament. She was AEA’s chief representative in the revision process that led to the EU’s new aviation security framework.

She has trained with the European Commission’s Air Transport Directorate (International Agreements), with Air France in Germany, with Spain’s Airport Authority AENA (International Relations), and with the airports’ association, ACI.
A French national, Nathalie has a legal background and holds a Masters Degree in Air Transport Law and Management from Aix-Marseille University in France. She speaks French, English, Spanish and German. In her spare time, Nathalie is a keen runner, having completed many half-marathons and two marathons in various countries.
