Biography

Gerry Simpson has most recently assisted Transport Canada in reviews of: air cargo competitiveness on Canadian international air cargo route sectors, the Atlantic Canada Fish and Seafood industry – as it relates to air cargo and the status of air cargo innovation. He has also provided aviation consulting services to airlines, airports and other governmental agencies. Teaching assignments on behalf of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Canada as well as participation in the management team of ULD CARE, has kept him current with a wide range of air cargo industry opportunities and issues.

His background includes a 32 year career at Air Canada, the majority of which was with the Cargo branch. He retired in January 2009 from the position of Director of Cargo Marketing and Business Development. While in this position he was responsible for Air Canada Cargo’s product development, regulatory and alliance management and several other customer focused service enhancements.   

Gerry will offer his insight and perspective of air cargo and its importance to aviation management – and looks forward to join the team of specialist instructors in providing a unique industry focused masters level Diploma in Integrated Aviation Management from McGill University.
