I am a doctoral student at the School of Social Work, McGill University, and the research coordinator for Social Development Research Group (SDRG) at the Centre for Research on Children and Families (CRCF). My research interests are social development and poverty broadly, and family economic stress, financial capability, and economic interventions specifically. Currently, I am working on measuring financial capability among low-income Canadian families, and identifying its determinants. I worked for eight years in the field of small and medium enterprise (SME) finances in Bangladesh. I obtained Masters of Social Sciences (MSS) in Social Welfare, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. I attained MSW from the Southern Illinois University Carbondale, USA, and was awarded as the Graduate Student of Year 2013. It is a great opportunity for me to be a part of CRCF, a research home of excellence. The Centre provides me with an excellent infrastructure and environment to work with a group of dedicated faculty members and graduate students. The CRCF monthly research seminars and brown-bag gatherings offer an effective platform for the trainee researchers like me to develop a research career.
