Admission Requirements

  1. Applicants must have successfully completed a DMD/DDS or BSc degree in a Health Sciences discipline (ex. Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Physiology) or a related field (ex. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Engineering) with a CGPA of at least 3.2. Applicants with a CGPA of lower than 3.2 may still be considered for admission if their application is accompanied by an explanation of why their CGPA is lower than 3.2.
  2. A supervisor must have agreed to work with the applicant by the application deadline. Applicants who have not found a supervisor and uploaded the PDF icon confirmation_of_supervision_funding_msc_feb_2024to the admissions platform by the application deadline will not be considered for admission.
  3. Applicants must follow standard Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) application procedures.
  4. Applicants whose previous studies were not completed in English must submit proof of English language proficiency. See McGill’s language proficiency requirements for more information. GPS reserves the right to request proof of English proficiency from any applicant (regardless of citizenship, country of origin, or first language) at any time during the application review process. Please allow for 5-7 days processing time following submission of your proof of English language proficiency for your application checklist to be updated. Kindly include this in your application timeline calculation.
  5. Please address the following questions in the personal statement:
    - Why have you chosen to apply to the MSc (Thesis) at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences.
    - What are your research interests?
    - What research experience do you have?
    - Are you interested in continuing on to a PhD program?
    - What are your career goals and how will this program help you achieve them?
