Farmers and Global Value Chains in Times of Crisis

Thursday, April 4, 2024 15:00to18:00
New Residence Hall Ballroom, , 3625 avenue du Parc, Montreal, QC, H2X 3P8, CA

Small farmers in low-income countries are more and more integrated in global value chains and, as such, highly exposed to shocks of various natures. Among the core challenges they face are the increased weather volatility due to climate change and the volatility of both output and input prices (as driven by the pandemic or the Ukraine war, for instance). What can we do to overcome these challenges?

Speakers:

  1. Berber Kremer (IFPRI)
  2. José Leibovich (Federación Nacional de Cafeteros, Colombia)
  3. Kent Nnadozie (FAO)
  4. Rodrigo Carcamo (UNCTAD)
  5. Kevin Donovan (Yale University)

Presented by the Institute for the Study of International Development, in association with Paola Perez-Aleman
