SEI Impact Interns – 2015 Cohort Announced

MDIIM is pleased to announce the Social Economy Initiative’s Impact Internship cohort for the 2015 year. The SEI Impact Internship Program pairs top undergraduate students who offer various skills and managerial support with social-purpose organizations (i.e. non-profits and social enterprises) for ten weeks over the summer.

MDIIM Faculty Fellow Awarded Grant to Study Flow of Emergency Department Patients through the Continuum of Care

The Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM) would like to congratulate Professor Beste Kucukyazici on her successful application to FRQS - Programme de subvention - Recherches sur l’urgence et le continuum des soins, for her project entitled “Recherchez au-delà des murs de l'unité d'urgence pour les facteurs de retards dans l'unité d'urgence: Modélisation des associations avec l'hôpital et les soins post-aigus et exploration d’interventions prometteuses”.

Internship Opportunity with the Social Economy Initiative in partnership with the McGill Quartier de l’Innovation

The Social Economy Initiative in partnership with the McGill Quartier de l’Innovation (QI) team invites McGill student (graduate and undergraduate) applications to a part-time 6-month internship developing a case study on McGill’s partnership and involvement with the Salon 1861 (Gestion immobilière Quo Vadis). 

The project will be co-supervised by Desautels Professors Emmanuelle Vaast and Ruthanne Huising with support from Ms. Isabelle Péan of the McGill QI team.

Health Initiative Hosts MD MBA Alumni Event

The Social Economy Initiative (SEI) is an important vehicle through which McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management integrates social entrepreneurship and social innovation into its teaching, research and outreach activities. The SEI is an undertaking of the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM). The Institute’s mandate is to foster an integrated approach to management.

Turning a ‘Black Soul’ Green: How CSR Became a Mainstay of Business Education

Montreal Case Competition Teaches Chemistry & MBA Students Sustainability for the Real World

Last Fall, the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM) and the McGill Department of Chemistry in Montreal collaborated to offer MBA and Chemistry Students the opportunity to participate in a unique two-day event. The case competition created opportunities to build a network of potential collaborators in business and chemistry.

ACS-GCI Director on the MDIIM Sustainable Innovation Workshop

The past six weeks have been eventful. In early September there was the ACS National Meeting in Indianapolis and that was an enjoyable week.  Indianapolis turned out to be a great venue with lots of good programming and some very memorable events. I especially enjoyed the Kavli Foundation Emerging Leader in Chemistry Lecture by Dr. Marin Burke entitled “Making molecular prosthetics with a small molecule synthesizer,” and the address by Alan Alda.
