Program Description

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Experimental Surgery offered by the Department of Surgical and Interventional Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences is a research-intensive program that emphasizes cutting-edge and engaging learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in critical thinking, research design, and scientific communication to pursue professional opportunities in academia or industry.

  • Faculty members conduct research in: injury, repair, recovery, tissue engineering, transplantation, fibrosis, cancer and stem cell biology, biomechanics, organ failure, surgical stimulation, surgical innovation, education, and evaluative/outcomes research.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
