Please note that Spectrum NG Sign-on mechanism was updated today, February 28th, to an enhanced, up-to-date version including 2FA (Two-factor authentication). Quebec government directive to remove TikTok from mobile devices

Effective immediately, please be advised that the application TikTok must not be installed on any mobile device (i.e., mobile phone or tablet) that has been provided to you by the University, or on any mobile device for which McGill covers the cost of the mobile service. If you currently have TikTok installed on your McGill mobile device, you must remove it immediately.
Automated uninstallation of unused software on McGill-managed machines
As part of McGill’s ongoing efforts to keep our systems secure, McGill IT Services will begin on February 15, 2023, automatically uninstalling unused and outdated software that may contain security vulnerabilities from ICS-managed desktop and laptop Windows computers.

Malicious email: Beware of emails with MS OneNote attachment
The education network is currently facing a large wave of fraudulent emails with a Microsoft OneNote attachment containing Qakbot malware. The impact of an infection by this malware is high, so the IT Information Security department has taken the precaution to block emails containing these attachments when they originate from an external source (e.g. come from a non-McGill email address).
Resource Account Information Drop-In Sessions for Sponsors

myCourses: Processing delays in course enrolment and unenrolment
An issue affecting myCourses is causing processing delays with course enrolment and unenrolment. Users may not immediately see their updated enrolment records on myCourses.

Free cloud storage for students via Microsoft OneDrive
Did you know... McGill students have access to 20 GB FREE personal file space on OneDrive, Microsoft’s cloud file storage component of the Office 365 package.
Important: New OneDrive storage capacity
Please note that students admitted on and after December 11th, 2023, receive 20GB of storage for McGill's OneDrive as well as 20GB storage for McGill's email (Outlook).
Updates to McGill’s anti-virus software: Messages displayed on Windows machines during scheduled update
McGill-managed desktop and laptop Windows computers will receive an important security update beginning on October 31, 2022. Cisco Secure Endpoint, McGill’s antivirus software, will receive its regularly scheduled, monthly update. The process to update all affected machines will take approximately 2 weeks.

On October 24th 2022, IT Services will be adding enhanced anti-phishing and anti-malware protection to your McGill email and Microsoft Teams conversations. Here are some details on what’s changing:

A targeted phishing email is currently circulating, asking you to open an attachment that contains a fraudulent link to a shared document. See an example of the message to the left.

FAMIS access now on containment site as of June 15, 2022
As of June Wednesday, June 15, 2022 McGill's Facilities and Space Maintenance System, FAMIS will only be accessible through a remote connection to a secure "containment" environment. This is necessary because FAMIS only runs in Internet Explorer, which is no longer supported by Microsoft.
