The Faculty Council (FC) is a collegial forum for discussion of the Faculty’s governance, strategic direction and general management, as well as for advising and decision-making, where appropriate, on matters relating to its tripartite mission. The FC includes broad representation from across the Faculty community, including academics, students, residents, postdoctoral researchers and staff. Members are nominated to the FC by their units, societies or associations. McGill’s President and Vice-Chancellor and Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic) are included on the FC in an ex-officio, non-voting capacity.
The FC meets four times annually, and sessions are open to all who are part of the Faculty, unless otherwise indicated. While FC members have voting rights and priority during discussions, all in attendance may participate and have the opportunity to ask questions during an open Town Hall segment at the end of each meeting.
The FC Terms of Reference provide details of the Council’s composition and other information. FC minutes will be posted online following each meeting.
