About McGill Chamber Jazz Ensemble I

Director (I): John Hollenbeck & Philippe Côté

Participation: Entrance is by audition (see audition schedules).  This ensemble is open to music students, and McGill University students from other faculties.

The McGill Chamber Jazz Ensemble is a ten-piece ensemble with a focus on contemporary jazz and student works.

Rehearsals are run in a workshop fashion, where creative new pieces by our students and faculty are explored and readied for performance.

Participation: Entrance is by audition (see audition schedules). This ensemble is open to music students, and McGill University students from other faculties.

The McGill Chamber Jazz Ensemble II is designed to provide instrumentalists and vocalists with a high-quality performance ensemble that emphasizes reading (as compared to combo, which is more improvisational). The ensemble is under the direction of jazz trumpeter, Bill Mahar.

The McGill Chamber Jazz Ensemble III is designed to provide instrumentalists and vocalists with a high-quality performance ensemble that emphasizes reading (as compared to combo, which is more improvisational). The ensemble is under the direction of jazz guitarist, Carlos Jimenez
