Outreach Session: Mitacs Programs

Wednesday, April 18, 2018 10:30to12:00
Bronfman Building Room 001, 1001 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 1G5, CA

The goal of this outreach session is to provide information on the available programs sponsored by Mitacs, which offer financial assistance to students and post-docs interested in undertaking research through a university-business partnership. This session would also benefit faculty members as these programs can lead to new connections with Canadian companies (for-profit, not-for-profit and non-governmental organizations), increased funding and unique training opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows through applied, industrial research projects. Mitacs also supports 2-way mobility of students between Canada and the international community.

McGill will host Mitacs representatives who will present various programs and provide helpful tips on how to mix and match these programs. They will also provide details on projects that have successfully used these programs to the advantage of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and researchers. The OSR will also provide a quick overview of the administration of these grants.

Discussions will centre on the following programs:

Speakers

Jean-Philippe Valois, Business Development Director, Mitacs

Noha Gerges, Business Development Specialist, Mitacs

Danny Leung, Grants Officer, Office of Sponsored Research
