Animal Compliance Office

The Animal Compliance Office (ACO) team helps with regulatory and compliance in research and teaching projects at McGill University and Research Institutes of Affiliated Hospitals. It reports to the Vice-President (Research and Innovation) of McGill University. The team includes a Director, Ethics Review Administrator, Training Advisor, Quality Assistance Advisor, Ethics & Compliance Administrator and Data Administrator & Software Support. Assistance is available for all researchers, instructors, staff, students and administrators.

The animalethics.review [at] mcgill.ca (Ethics Review Administrator's) responsibilities include Facility Animal Care Committees (FACCs) under McGill University:

  • Downtown Campus A (for researchers and instructors on the Downtown Campus with projects involving molecular biology and/or oncology)
  • Downtown Campus B (for researchers and instructors on the Downtown Campus with projects involving behaviour and/or larger animals and/or teaching)
  • Macdonald Campus (for researchers and instructors on the Macdonald Campus with projects involving the farm or other animal facilities at Macdonald Campus as well as all researchers and instructors with field-type projects)
