Cosmological and black hole solutions to the Einstein field equations corresponds to manifolds with singularities. These singularities imply that the field equations break down. I will discuss the search for effective gravitational actions which can resolve cosmological and black hole singularities.
Title: An inverse curvature type hypersurface in space formAbstract: We introduce a new type of hypersurface flow for bounded starshaped domains in space form. An interesting property of this type of flow is monotonicity for corresponding quermassintegrals. The focus is the long time existence and convergence of the flow. We will discuss some recent progress and open problems arising from the regularity estimates
