Science Communication

Lister Family Engaged Science 3MT®

Do you struggle with communicating your research to different audiences?

SKILLSETS is excited to offer three training workshops in collaboration with the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (FAES) and the Lister Family Engaged Science Initiative. These workshops will help you improve your science communication skills and prepare for the Lister Family Engaged Science 3MT competition in January 2018. Details below.

"This competition has brought much more than I expected. It equipped me with skills to communicate with the general public and it strengthened my confidence and courage to reach out to other researchers...

I have to say, it is a can't miss competition in which you will know yourself better and be a better version of yourself!"

The 3MT Competition was developed by the University of Queensland. Students are given 3 minutes to explain their research in front of one static slide.

"Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) celebrates the exciting research conducted by PhD students. Developed by The University of Queensland, the exercise cultivates students' academic, presentation, and research communication skills. The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience."
