Sounds of Activism: Dont Rhine workshops at IPLAI

Media@McGill, in collaboration with IGSF and IPLAI, invite applications to participate in "Sounds of Activism," a three-session practice-based workshop on militant sound research a three-day workshop led by Dont Rhine of Ultra Red. The workshop is open to all Montreal artists, students, social movement activists, political organizers, and popular educators.

This workshop will take place at IPLAI on February 1, 3, and 5, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Participants must commit to attending all three sessions.

Workshops are free, but attendance is by application.

Dont Rhine, co-founder of the international sound art collective Ultra-red, will present a three-sessions workshop on militant sound inquiry. The workshop introduces participants to Ultra-red’s sound research practices and ideas developed in the context of political organizing and community-based education. For over twenty years Ultra-red has employed sound and listening literacies to investigate anti-racism, the struggles of migration, housing justice, and HIV/AIDS activism.
