Childcare

Quebec was the first province to offer parents universal childcare. The popularity of the program is evidenced by how difficult it is to find a spot. The Government of Quebec has a centralized waiting list system for subsidized and unsubsidized daycares and childcare centres called LaPlace 0-5. It is strongly recommended that parents begin making arrangements at least 6-12 month in advance of the desired registration date by creating a profile and selecting various preferred locations. Visit the McGill Family Care website for information on the types of daycare and childcare subsidies available.

Please note that the McGill Daycare is not managed by the university and has a particularly long waiting list accessible only via LaPlace 0-5.

For advise on using LaPlace 0-5 and information on the daycare system, please contact the michelle.cubano [at] mcgill.ca (subject: Childcare) (Faculty Relocation Advisor)
