This page contains information for students pursuing non-thesis Masterʼs, thesis Masterʼs or Doctoral degrees or Postdoctoral research. Students entering their program as of Fall 2017 are able to check their progress via myProgress. The tables below show the correspondence between the meetings or events that occur at various stages of study and the corresponding myProgress milestones.
Prerequisite courses
If a student is required to take an undergraduate course to satisfy a missing prerequisite, they must do so in the first year of their graduate program. Since the course will be at the undergraduate level, it will not count toward the course requirements of their graduate program.
Letter of Understanding
A Letter of Understanding is required for thesis Master's and Doctoral students. A template for the Letter of Understanding is available and it may be modified as needed to suit individual labs and students. The letter is not a contract and is not binding. Its goal is to clarify expectations between student and supervisor(s).

Note: The M.Eng. degree, offered to legacy students, transitioned to an M.Sc. degree starting in Fall 2023. M.Eng. policies and forms apply to M.Sc. students as well.
