Bioengineering Welcomes Professor Mahshid

The Department of Bioengineering is pleased to welcome Professor Sara Mahshid as part of our academic team! Professor Mahshid joins us from University of Toronto where she worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow under the supervision of Professor Shana Kelley. Prior to her time at U of T, Professor Mahshid also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at McGill University – making her no stranger to our beautiful campus.

Thanks to her academic background in Materials Science and Engineering, as well as her industry experience as Materials Specialist, Professor Mahshid brings a unique interdisciplinary research background in which she combines her expertise in nanomaterials-based biosensing and nano/microfluidic lab-on-chip devices for applications in healthcare (diagnostics, genetics and medicine). More specifically, she uses engineering approaches to develop innovative bionano-medical devices for point-of-care diagnostics and single cell analysis (for further details, visit her website).

To get to know Professor Mahshid better, we asked her a series of This or That questions. Let’s see her preferences!:
