Prospective Students

A variety of award programs are offered by the Faculty of Engineering to incoming Masters and PhD students. The awards available to incoming graduate students, contingent upon meeting eligibility requirements, are:

Applicants who wish to be considered for the Engineering fellowships above should apply well ahead of the standard BBME admissions deadlines. No separate fellowship application is needed in order to be considered; please simply submit the required admissions documents via uApply by the deadlines below.

Current Students

The Faculty of Engineering also provides funding opportunities to graduate students who are currently enrolled in either a Masters, or PhD program.

Graduate Excellence Fellowship (GEF)

The Graduate Excellence Fellowship (GEF) is designed to assist in funding Research Masters students registered full-time (M1-M2) and full-time PhD students (PhD1-PhD5). The nomination and value of the award are at the discretion of the Department. Nominations are made twice yearly (Fall and Winter). Faculty and students will be notified of upcoming deadlines.

Graduate Research Enhancement and Travel Award (GREAT)

The Graduate Research Enhancement and Travel (GREAT) Award supports graduate student travel to conferences and research-enhancement activities. Only students in Research Master’s programs within their first two years of study (M1-M2) and PhD students in in their first five years (PhD1-PhD5) are eligible. The amount of the award remains at the discretion of the Department.

Please submit the original application form to the Department before the applicable deadline (Fall, Winter, Summer).
