Why support the Branches Program?

We strive to be the many branches between underrepresented communities and McGill students. The Branches Program builds relationships, develops learning, and promotes leadership.

Donate to the Branches Program:

  • to build longstanding relationships between communities and McGill as well as contribute to the diverse cultures of Tiohtià:ke/Montreal

  • to promote access to education for communities by providing pathways and removing barriers

  • to enable students to develop leadership skills and support networks before they embark on their career path as well as pursue their academic relationship with McGill

  • to expand underrepresented communities’ presence, culture, and learning at McGill

  • to benefit communities by providing McGill students rewarding volunteer experiences and a chance to give back to communities.

Alexandra MacDougall"It is in my family’s tradition to volunteer in causes that reach out to different communities. I followed their example and have been especially involved in the Arts and Education. When I was first introduced to the Homework Zone program, it was very motivating to see that it was McGill students volunteering their time and giving back to the community through mentorship. The benefits that these young people can gain from the McGill students’ mentorship and encouragement in their studies will help improve their overall wellbeing and chances of success in many aspects of their lives. My colleagues on the board of the Zeller Family Foundation felt the same way. The more the program expands, the better. The more bridges made with different communities in need, the better. I hope that students realize the value in volunteering, where they will become more in touch with their communities and will feel blessed to be useful to others. Any effort that we can make to make young people more accomplished, be healthy, have good values and good education will only help us to have a better, more caring society."

McGill University is on land that long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst
Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge
and thank the diverse Indigenous people whose footsteps have marked this territory on which
peoples of the world now gather.
