Event Registration: Living on the Edge

March 30, 2022 at 1-2 PM EDT

This special Lunch&Learn session welcomes Dr. Richard A. Settersten Jr. and Dr. Glen H. Elder Jr. for a discussion of their book, Living on the Edge: An American Generation's Journey through the Twentieth Century. Drawing from the iconic longitudinal Berkeley Guidance Study, Living on the Edge examines the rapid social changes and uncertainty that defined 20th-century American life, and how the hopes, struggles, and daily lives of the 1900s relate to the experiences of our current generation. The upcoming session will use these main themes of Living on the Edge as a springboard for larger conversations about aging and life course theories, questions, and data to highlight the relevance of looking back in order to look forward to a brighter future.
