Are you looking for a summer job and not sure where to start?  Will you be spending Reading Week job searching and putting together applications?

The CaPS Summer Job Studio, led by our amazing volunteers in the Career Leadership Program, is the first student-organized event created to serve other McGill students in preparing for their summer jobs! Throughout the week of February 19th -28th, McGill undergraduate students in all faculties and years will be able to attend workshops and CV/LinkedIn reviews that will help them learn how and where to find their dream summer job, and how to create an impressive application that will stand out! Feb 19, 12:30 – 1:30 – Brown 2200 – How to find a summer job workshop #1 - RSVP through myFuture
Looking for a summer job ? Start here! This popular workshop, facilitated by our trained Career Leaders, provides an overview of key job-search strategies, as well as tips on how to uncover hidden opportunities and build relationships that maximize your summer job search efforts.

By attending this workshop, students will be able to:
1) Develop 3 job search strategies that include looking for summer jobs, finding employers and building relationships
2) Gain knowledge and online resources for an effective summer job search
3) Take concrete steps to be more active and direct in your summer job search


Feb 24, 11:00am – 12:30 pm – CV workshop in Brown 3001 followed by 30 min of drop-ins in Brown 2200 - RSVP through myFuture
This workshop, facilitated by our trained Career Leaders, will help you to understand the various elements of a CV (resume) in order to compose a customized application that highlights relevant skills to an employer.

By attending this workshop, students will be able to:

  1. Understand expectations around the format and purpose of CVs
  2. Identify strategies for customizing application materials to specific jobs
  3. Articulate their skills and accomplishments within the CV

Be better prepared for those internship/job applications by getting your CV reviewed by one of our trained Career Leaders! These are quick 15-minute CV reviews for undergraduate students. You must come in person to the CaPS office to register for that same day drop-in session, first come first served.

Please bring a hard copy of your CV with you to the session!

Looking to polish your LinkedIn profile and to make the most of this professional networking site during your summer job search? This workshop, facilitated by our trained Career Leaders, will explain how to create a professional LinkedIn profile and how best to use this platform to network and find employment opportunities.

By attending this workshop, students will be able to:

  1. Enhance their LinkedIn profile and better navigate the platform
  2. Actively engage with LinkedIn to connect with alumni and network with professionals
