UNIONIZED POSITION COVERED BY THE MUNACA-PSAC BARGAINING UNIT
Provide financial and accounting services centrally, or in a faculty/department/unit, to support the recording and reporting of the University’s financial position. Develop and implement financial, accounting, audit, investment, risk and procurement strategies. Provide financial information and analysis, evaluate business and financial implications of investment proposals, implement and monitor financial and accounting policies and procedures, develop and implement financial controls, process and monitor financial transactions. Audit various operations of the University. Invest University’s endowment trust, pension funds or other funds. Manage insurance claims and risk practices. Ensure effective procurement strategies and provide procurement services to the University community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides financial and accounting services, in the Faculty of Engineering, to support the recording and reporting of academics.
- Accountable for implementing strategies, providing financial information and analysis, evaluating business and financial implications of controls, processing and monitoring of financial transactions.
- Provision of financial and accounting support for decision-making at the senior administration level, including strategic planning and advice; auditing of various operations of the University; the investment of the University’s endowment, trust and other invested funds, as well as insurance, claims and risk management practice; and the provision of purchasing services to the University community.
- Liaises with external granting groups.
Education and Experience:
Three (3) years' related experience
Other Qualifying Skills and Abilities:
Experience in accounting, budget procedures, financial research administration and granting agencies. Proven ability to prioritize and meet specific deadlines. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, and external stakeholders. Proven skills in investigation, follow-up, and problem solving. Demonstrated ability to work in a PC environment, using advanced spreadsheet skills, databases, Minerva, Banner (FIS), and Crystal Reports. English, spoken and written, basic French knowledge.
