MedTech Innovation Seminar Feb 28, 2024 –Early Career Experiences as a Biomedical Engineer Working in Health and Fitness

Join us on February 28th as our excellent speaker discusses kickstarting a health and fitness technology career and transitioning from academia to industry. The speaker will cover how to advocate for yourself finding a job that aligns with your interests and skills that can prepare you for success. The presentation will also explore the speaker’s personal experiences and how they have found fulfilment in their corporate career.

This presentation will demonstrate valuable strategies for self-advocacy, propose roles that align with your passion and skills, and provide the necessary preparation for a successful career presented by our esteemed speaker:

  • Maliyat Aniqa Noor, (Garmin Canada)

Aniqa graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Biomedical Engineering. With a passion for applications of engineering in health and fitness, Aniqa participated in many hackathons and undergraduate research. She has been working at Garmin Canada for three years on the Biosensors Software team, focusing on supporting the integration of biometrics on Garmin wearables. In her free time, she enjoys board games, books and swimming.

The MedTech Talent Accelerator is a national training program to launch the next generation of industry-ready talent for the Canadian Medical Technology sector. The program is a collaboration between Toronto Metropolitan University (Formerly known as Ryerson), McGill, Dalhousie, University of Calgary, BioMedical Zone, MedTech Canada (the National Association of the Canadian Medical Technology Industries), and its member companies.
