Analyzing census data with R (online)

Instructor: Dr. Tim Elrick, Faculty Lecturer in the Faculty of Science.

 

Overview: In this workshop you will learn how to efficiently find and extract census data and its geographical boundaries in R for the Canadian, the US and EU censuses.

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to
     · find and extract data efficiently from the Canadian census
     · find and extract data efficiently from the US census
     · find and extract data efficiently from the Eurostat census
     · extract geographic boundary files, combine them with census data and display them on a map.

Prerequisites:
     · Introductory knowledge of R, e.g. from McGill R summer camp, or from our Introduction to programming with R workshop.
     · Install R and RStudio on your computer. You can find installation instructions here. Please contact us (cdsi.science at mcgill.ca) if you are having trouble with installation.
