Workshop: Introduction to programming in R
Workshop Overview: This workshop will give an overview of the foundations of programming in R.
At the end of the workshop, you will:
> Become familiar with the integrated development environment RStudio
> Understand the different types of variables in R (data types and data structures)
> Be able to write simple scripts
> Understand how to load and use libraries
> Be able to use control flow to automate your scripts
> Know how to get help
Prerequisites:
· Knowledge of filesystems would be helpful (e.g. from Understanding filesystems workshop).
· Install R and RStudio on your computer. You can find installation instructions here. Please contact us (cdsi.science [at] mcgill.ca) if you are having trouble with installation.
· You need to bring your own laptop for this workshop. Contact us if you would like to attend but it's impossible for you to bring a laptop to this workshop.
Location: HYBRID. Online via Zoom, or in-person at Burnside Hall room 1104 (11th floor).
