The McCAIS Undergraduate Research Awards (McURA) are intended to foster interdisciplinary research in the realm of AI and Society. The purpose of these awards is to encourage research aimed at understanding and positively influencing the impact of AI on Society, necessarily drawing on not only technological aspects but also those related (but not limited) to arts, decision-making, health, law and policy.

McCAIS offers these awards to promote work that transcends traditional academic disciplines, thereby encouraging innovative solutions to complex problems. A McURA, amounting to $8,700.00, is significant in that it not only assists the student and their supervisor with research funding but also enhances the interdisciplinary research capabilities of their Faculty and McGill University as a whole.

During the Research Phase, it is the responsibility of the students and supervisors to make sure that the research is being conducted in a Responsible Manner (e.g., Uphold the academic integrity of the University, comply with all policies on research ethics and procedures governing use of human subjects (if any) and data management).

The deadline for applying for the McURA is April 8th 2024
