Online registration (for in-person, please fill in this form instead)

Date: Wednesday, 25 January 2023.
Time: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Location: online (via Zoom).
Instructor: Eric D. Kolaczyk, Director, Computational & Data Systems Initiative (CDSI).

Overview: This workshop presents an overview of the data science life cycle using the programming language R in the statistical programming environment RStudio. Using a simple data set, the instructor will walk participants through the different steps of the data science life cycle (e.g., manipulation, plotting, communication, code version control), presenting relevant R packages and representative commands for each step.

This tutorial is designed to help the learner prepare for the larger set of CDSI training offerings on the various specific stages of the data science life cycle.

Prerequisites:
  · Knowledge of file systems and RStudio would be helpful (e.g. from Understanding filesystems and Introduction to programming with R workshops).
  · Install R and RStudio on your computer. You can find installation instructions here. Please contact us (cdsi.science [at] mcgill.ca) if you are having trouble with installation.
