In-person registration (for online, please fill in this form instead)

Date: Wednesday, 25 January 2023.
Time: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Location: Burnside Hall room 1104 (11th floor).
Instructor: Eric D. Kolaczyk, Director, Computational & Data Systems Initiative (CDSI).

Overview: This workshop presents an overview of the data science life cycle using the programming language R in the statistical programming environment RStudio. Using a simple data set, the instructor will walk participants through the different steps of the data science life cycle (e.g., manipulation, plotting, communication, code version control), presenting relevant R packages and representative commands for each step.

This tutorial is designed to help the learner prepare for the larger set of CDSI training offerings on the various specific stages of the data science life cycle.

Prerequisites:
    · Knowledge of filesystems and RStudio would be helpful (e.g. from Understanding filesystems and Introduction to programming with R workshops).
    · You need to bring your own laptop for this workshop. Install R and RStudio on your computer. You can find installation instructions here. Please contact us (cdsi.science [at] mcgill.ca) if you are having trouble with installation. Contact us if you would like to attend but it's impossible for you to bring a laptop to this workshop.
