Call for applications: Canada Research Chair (Deadline)

Call for applications: Canada Research Chair in Social Innovation in the Urban Context

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Montreal (CIRM) at McGill University invites applications for a Canada Research Chair in Social Innovation in the Urban Context. The position will be at the level of Associate Professor or Professor and the successful candidate will be associated with a department in the Faculty of Arts.

CIRM is a research centre whose mission is to stimulate and unite interdisciplinary research on Montreal and to promote research initiatives across cultural, governmental, social, community, and economic domains. The candidate selected at the end of the process must have demonstrated his or her interest in working in this dual, interdisciplinary and intersectorial, perspective. CIRM is particularly interested in candidates who have worked at the intersection of qualitative and quantitative research. Candidates whose research focus on cities other than Montreal are welcome to apply but will have to demonstrate, through the program of research they submit to the selection committee, that they intend to give Montreal a central role in their future research.

If the successful candidate satisfies the specific eligibility conditions of the program, the candidate may be supported by the University for nomination to a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Social Innovation in the Urban Context, which provides protected time for research within a full-time academic appointment.

A Tier 1 CRC is a senior chair to be held by a full Professor or an Associate Professor who will earn a senior promotion within two years of acceptance of the award. The eligibility conditions for the CRC chairs are described at http://www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca/program-programme/nomination-mise_en_candidature- eng.aspx#s3.

Associate Professors who do not satisfy the CRC eligibility criteria for a Tier 1 chair are asked not to apply for the position.
