Joyce Pickering, MD,CM, MSc, is a general internist and an Associate Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine, McGill University. She has a Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McGill (1988) and has taught clinical epidemiology to medical students and residents both in Canada and abroad. She has been involved in medical education for 25 years, at both the postgraduate and undergraduate levels, including the position of Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education at McGill from 2004 to 2011. She is currently the Vice Chair of Education for the McGill Department of Medicine, and the interim Medical Clinical Teaching Unit Director for the Royal Victoria Hospital site of the McGill University Health Centre.
She is involved in a number of international projects, including training of Infectious Disease Fellows at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia and faculty development at Gifu University, Japan. She teaches clinically in both General Internal medicine and Tropical Medicine.
She sits on the McGill Faculty of Medicine Student Assessment Committee, the MDCM Accreditation committee and the Committee for Medical Education Governance. She is the McGill member for the Medical Council of Canada, and a member of the internal medicine examination board for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
