Academic and non-academic employers have very different needs, and conduct their hiring in different ways. That means that candidates need to tailor their CVs when they apply outside of academia, but deciding what to change and what to include can be a confusing process. This workshop will give you an understanding of the key differences between academic and non-academic CVs, and help you to understand how to translate your research and accomplishment into a non-academic format.
By attending this workshop, students will be able to:
1) Identify key differences between an academic and non-academic CV
2) Understand how to organize and format a non-academic CV
3) Describe their skills and accomplishments in a way that is meaningful to non-academic employers
