Adolescents everywhere face multiple challenges to their health and wellbeing, not least to their sexual and reproductive health. The research group Participatory Research at McGill (PRAM) from the Department of Family Medicine is collaborating with local partners to understand factors contributing to adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) in Bauchi State, Nigeria, quantify the factors and ASRH outcomes, and discuss and act on the findings. This is a multimethod study that includes engagement of adolescents themselves: to identify ASRH priorities, gather and analysis local data, and co-design solutions to priority concerns. Professor Cockcroft will outline the methods used to engage adolescents and other stakeholders as partners and the results so far. It poses the question: could these methods be adapted to engage adolescents in the Montreal family medicine context?

This seminar is being organized by the Department of Family Medicine's research group called McGill Practice Based Research Network (PBRN).

Research Seminar Series

Every month, a research seminar is held at the Department of Family Medicine where we either feature visiting researchers from other universities, or showcase the work of our own researchers. The seminars are attended by our graduate students, researchers and clinicians, and are open to the whole McGill community. They address a wide range of research methods and topics relevant to primary health care, and provide opportunity for interaction and exchange with the speakers. The Research Seminars are Fridays at around noon.
