Working in Aboriginal Law

Monday, January 18, 2021 13:00to14:30
Zoom.
Price:
Free. Registration mandatory.

As the veil that covers the injustices historically experienced by Indigenous peoples within the Canadian legal system is lifted, the field of Aboriginal law is growing and is characterised by fascinating innovations.

To learn more about potential career paths within Aboriginal law, join us for the Indigenous Law Association de Droit Autochtone (ILADA) student club annual panel.

It is ILADA's great pleasure to welcome four Indigenous lawyers from all over the country to its annual panel devoted to shedding light on the practice of Aboriginal law.

  • Akosua Matthews (Falconers LLP), who is a member of the Manitoba Métis and involved in Indigenous Child Welfare;
  • Rayanna Seymour-Hourie (West Coast Environmental Law), who is a member of the Anishinaabe (Ojibway) nation and part of the ReLAW program which focus on revitalizing Indigenous Law for Land, Air and Water;
  • Nadir André (Borden Ladner Gervais LLP), who is member of the Matimekush-Lac John First Nation and practices in Commercial and Aboriginal law;
  • Darwin Hanna (Callison & Hanna), who is a member of the Nlaka’pamux Nation and involved in Indigenous self-government policies.

The panel will be followed by a Q&A period where you will be able to address your questions to our guests. This event is open to all students.

To attend on Zoom, kindly register via our Google form.
